My Art Background
This is it.
I just never stopped.
Self -Taught Artist
No art school, I was too afraid to major in something that wouldn’t guarantee fInAnCiAl StAbIlItY. Joke’s on me because right after I got a degree in websites, ChatGPT debuted to the world and I couldn’t break into the club. And it’s okay because it left room in my life for me to keep painting. It’s an important lesson when we don’t get what we think we want and I’m trying to learn it.

Early Influences
The 90’s
My aunt Angela Bond, a pop artist out of Atlanta, GA. I thought it was so cool how she always set up her easel when she visited. My taste for color was definitely inspired by her work as was my start in dog portraits.
The cool theatre girl in high school’s Salvador Dali back tattoo of Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bee Around a Pomegranate and The Elephants
My mom who always kept art supplies in my hands growing up

Developing my Painting Style
When my first kid was born the postpartum was like a giant wave and I was pretty isolated but I found myself in the pockets of time when my son napped. I clung to the theory that even a little bit of painting a day adds up, and that creativity has a tendency to snowball, and was dedicated to sitting down to my easel daily while he slept. I offered my first pet portraits realllllllllly cheap and slowly built up prices as my skill increased with practice. One thing about me, good or bad, is that if I can monetize a hobby, I don’t feel as guilty indulging in it. I think that’s the mom in me.
I worked on pet portraits and other custom paintings every day for several years and developed a relatively consistent style- at first I stayed far away from the realism I was taught in high school, but slowly brought elements of it back as I settled into my painting style. I’m going to call it pop surreal for now but it’s always evolving, as everyone’s style does.

Favorite Mediums
There’s really only one I regularly indulge in: paint. But of course I’ve dabbled in the past. I typically paint in acrylics on canvas though I have dreams of scaling up into more murals. Open to wherever the path leads and very interested in learning new mediums through collaboration.
My first branded mural painted for Axis Yoga inside the Folkmoot Center for the Arts in Waynesville, North Carolina. Design was founded on the studio’s logo of the bears and from there I painted the Smoky Mountains surrounding them.
What now?
I’m a mom, and they’re pretty young. I paint in random pockets of time as often as I can. During the week I work at a family run leather shop and get to be inspired by their small business savvy while I slowly grow my art practice and my kids and hopefully myself.
